Among other things, folic acid is necessary for the development of healthy red blood cells. A deficiency of folic acid in the body can occur, for example, when there is a disorder in the absorption of folic acid in the body, chronic alcoholism, long-term use of drugs for epilepsy or due to increased consumption such as during pregnancy

Medicine

Use in:
- anemia due to folic acid deficiency (megaloblastic anemia)
- to prevent a deficiency of folic acid in the body, for example as a result of a disorder of intestinal absorption, chronic alcoholism, or the long-term use of
drugs for falling illness (epilepsy)
- from at least 4 weeks before pregnancy in women who can or want to become pregnant
become pregnant until 8 weeks after the start of pregnancy; the risk of having a child with
a neu aal tube defect (e.g. spina bifida) is thereby reduced. This applies to women who have not previously had a child with such a condition

Composition
The active substance is 0.5 mg folic acid per tablet.
Excipients: potato starch, lactose, pre-gelatinized potato starch, talc (E553b),
magnesium stearate (E572)

Dosage
The recommended dosage is as follows:
Initially 1-2 tablets per day (=24 hours). Thereafter, a maintenance dosage of ½-1 tablet per day.
Maximum 2 tablets per day.

Before and during pregnancy:
1 tablet per day (=24 hours).

When should you not use this medicine?
- You are allergic to any of the substances contained in this medicine.
- anemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency (pernicious anemia), which is not treated with vitamin B12 or not treated adequately.
- if you have anemia with an unknown cause.
