How to.
Cold sore
- Apply the cream on the affected areas and on the lips themselves.
- Avoid contact of the cream with mucous membranes, such as oral cavity, eyes and vagina. This is because the cream can easily irritate mucous membranes.
- Wash hands thoroughly after each application. This will prevent both the cream and the virus from spreading. This is because you can transmit the cream to yourself (genital herpses) or to others through your fingers. Furthermore, stay away from the affected area as much as possible and also make sure that others do not come into contact with the area. So do not kiss or cuddle babies.
- Apply the cream to the affected area. Make sure not to apply the cream unnecessarily on the mucous membranes, as you are more likely to get irritation.
- Avoid contact of the cream with mucous membranes, such as oral cavity, eyes and vagina. This is because the cream can easily irritate mucous membranes.
- Wash hands thoroughly after each application. This will prevent the cream and the virus from spreading. This is because you can transmit the virus to yourself (cold sores) or to others. Stay away from the affected area as much as possible and also make sure that others do not come into contact with the area. So no genital contact during the symptoms. A condom protects somewhat, but not sufficiently against infection.
Start applying lubrication as soon as the first symptoms, such as tingling, appear. This is when the virus is still growing. Usually you should use this remedy five times a day, each time about four hours apart. At night you can take one dose before going to bed and the next dose after getting up.
How long?
A course of treatment lasts four to five days. If you are using the cream for the first time, keep in mind that it is a cure. Start the course of treatment on time, do not interrupt it and finish it completely, even if the infection has subsided, otherwise the chances of it benefiting you are very small. If you do not notice any effect after finishing the cure and the infection returns regularly, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
Side effects
Besides the desired effect, this drug can cause side effects. The main side effects are irritation and hypersensitivity.Rarely
- When used on mucous membranes: irritation. If possible, avoid contact of the cream with mucous membranes, such as of the oral cavity, eyes and vagina.
- A burning or stinging sensation. The treated area may itch, dry out and flake. If after a few days of use the symptoms do not diminish but worsen, contact your doctor.
- Hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients of the cream. You will notice this by rash and itching. Consult your doctor if these symptoms occur. Inform the pharmacy that you are hypersensitive to this cream. The pharmacy team can then make sure that you do not receive this medicine again.
Forgotten
You use this medicine every four hours: will it be more than one hour before you administer the next dose normally? Then still apply the cream. Will it be less than an hour? Then skip the forgotten dose. There is no point in applying a double dose.Try to stick to the schedule. Only with regular application will the cream be effective.

Driving, drinking alcohol and eating anything?There are no restrictions for this drug.

Introductie Koortslipcreme Htp
Aciclovir is een virusremmer. Het is te gebruiken bij een koortslip.
Handelsinformatie
Aciclovir is sinds 1981 internationaal op de markt. Voor gebruik bij een koortslip is het in een crème zonder recept verkrijgbaar onder de merknamen Koortslipcrème, Zovirax koortslipcrème en het merkloze Aciclovir crème.
Het is ook te verkrijgen in tabletten en drank, zie hiervoor de tekst aciclovir om in te nemen.

Het is ook verkrijgbaar in infusen.
Hoe moet ik Koortslipcreme Htp gebruiken?
Kijk voor de juiste dosering altijd op het etiket van de apotheek of in de bijsluiter.
Hoe?
- Breng de crème op de aangedane plekken aan.
- Vermijd contact van de crème met de slijmvliezen, zoals van mondholte en de ogen. De crème kan slijmvliezen namelijk gemakkelijk irriteren.
- Was na elke toepassing de handen goed. Zo voorkomt u dat zowel de crème als het virus zich verspreiden. U kunt het virus namelijk via uw vingers op uzelf (genitale herpses) of op anderen overdragen. Blijf verder zo veel mogelijk van de aangedane plek af en zorg ook dat anderen niet in aanraking met de plek komen. Dus niet kussen of knuffelen met baby's.
Wanneer?
Begin met smeren zodra de eerste verschijnselen, zoals tinteling, zich voordoen. Dat is het moment waarop het virus nog aan het groeien is. Meestal moet u dit medicijn 5 keer per dag gebruiken, met steeds een tussenpoos van ongeveer 4 uur. 's Nachts kunt u dan volstaan met één dosis voor het slapengaan en de volgende dosis nadat u bent opgestaan
Hoe lang?
Een kuur duurt 4 tot 5 dagen. Start tijdig met de kuur, onderbreek hem niet en maak hem helemaal af, ook als de klachten minder zijn geworden. Anders is de kans dat u er baat bij heeft erg klein. Merkt u na afloop van de kuur geen effect en keert de infectie regelmatig terug, dan is het raadzaam uw arts te raadplegen.
Op welke bijwerkingen moet ik letten?
Behalve het gewenste effect kan dit medicijn bijwerkingen geven.
De belangrijkste bijwerkingen zijn de volgende.
Zeer zelden
- Een branderig of stekend gevoel. De behandelde plek kan jeuken, uitdrogen en gaan schilferen. Neem contact op met uw art als na een paar dagen gebruik de verschijnselen niet afnemen maar juist verergeren.
- Overgevoeligheid voor één van de bestanddelen van de crème. Dit merkt u aan huiduitslag en jeuk. In zeldzame gevallen ontstaat er een benauwdheid, flauwvallen of zwelling in het gezicht, mond of keel. Waarschuw altijd een arts zodra u huiduitslag bemerkt. Ga bij ernstige verschijnselen direct naar een arts of Eerste Hulpdienst. Blijkt u overgevoelig, dan mag u dit medicijn in de toekomst niet meer gebruiken. Geef daarom aan de apotheker door dat u overgevoelig bent voor deze crème. Het apotheekteam kan er dan op letten dat u dit medicijn niet opnieuw krijgt.
Raadpleeg uw arts als u te veel last heeft van één van de bovengenoemde bijwerkingen of als u andere bijwerkingen ervaart waar u zich zorgen over maakt.
Uitleg frequenties
Regelmatig : bij meer dan 30 op de 100 mensen
Soms : bij 10 tot 30 op de 100 mensen
Zelden : bij 1 tot 10 op de 100 mensen
Zeer zelden : bij minder dan 1 op de 100 mensen
Heeft Koortslipcreme Htp wisselwerkingen met andere medicijnen?
U kunt dit medicijn veilig gebruiken in combinatie met andere medicijnen.
Als ik Koortslipcreme Htp gebruik, mag ik dan...
autorijden, alcohol drinken en alles eten?
Bij dit medicijn zijn hiervoor geen beperkingen.
Mag ik Koortslipcreme Htp gebruiken als ik zwanger ben of borstvoeding geef?
U kunt dit medicijn veilig gebruiken bij een koortslip. Het wordt al jarenlang gebruikt door zwangere vrouwen en vrouwen die borstvoeding geven, zonder problemen voor de baby.
Wat moet ik doen als ik een dosis vergeten ben?
U gebruikt dit middel om de 4 uur: duurt het nog meer dan 1 uur voor u de volgende dosis normaal toedient? Breng dan de crème alsnog aan. Duurt het nog minder dan 1 uur? Sla dan de vergeten dosis over. Een dubbele hoeveelheid smeren heeft geen zin.
Probeer u aan het schema te houden. Alleen bij regelmatig smeren heeft u kans dat de crème effect heeft.
Kan ik zomaar stoppen met Koortslipcreme Htp?
Het is beter de kuur volledig af te maken. Een kuur duurt 4 tot 5 dagen. Als u allergische reacties of ernstige bijwerkingen krijgt, moet u wel stoppen. Neem in dat geval contact op met uw arts.
