Composition:
The active substance in this drug is: loperamide hydrochloride. 1 capsule of Loperamide HCI Sandoz 2 mg contains 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride.
The other substances in this drug are: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, talc (E553b), magnesium stearate (E470b), gelatin, Patent Blue (E131), black iron oxide (E172), yellow iron oxide (E172), titanium dioxide (E171).
Usage:
In general, the following dosages apply:
Adults and children over 8 years of age
Acute diarrhea.
Begin with 2 capsules (4 mg) in adults and 1 capsule (2 mg) in children. Then 1 capsule (2 mg) every two hours for as long as diarrhea lasts.
Chronic diarrheaStart with 2 capsules(4 mg) daily for adults and 1 capsule (2 mg) daily for children. This dose should be adjusted until 1-2 solid stools per day are obtained . This is usually achieved with 1-6 capsules (2-12 mg) per day. Your doctor will determine this dose
set.
Maximum dose
The maximum dose for acute and chronic diarrhea in adults is 8 capsules (16 mg) per day. In children, the maximum dose depends on body weight (3 capsules per 20 kg), but should not exceed8 capsules per day.
Children up to 8 years of age
Loperamide HCl Sandoz should not be used in children under 8 years of age.
Elderly
No dose adjustment is required in the elderly.
