ORS granules
Composition
One sachet contains 2.79 grams of glucose, 652 mg of sodium citrate, 310 mg of sodium chloride, 299 mg of potassium chloride and as excipients orange flavoring, silicon dioxide and the sweetener sucralose E955.
One solution in 200 ml of water contains 15.5 mmol glucose, 12 mmol sodium 4 mmol potassium, 9.3 mmol chloride and 2.2 mmol citrate.
Dosage:
Infants and children up to 20 kg: 10 - 20 ml per kg body weight per hour for as long as desired.
Adults and children over 20 kg: 200 ml at a time, after each bowel movement, for as long as desired.
Preparation
Dissolve the contents of 1 sachtet in 200 ml drinking water (approx. one and a half teacups).
If in doubt about the water quality: boil the water and let it cool down first.
Store this product out of the reach of children.
Store the product below 30°C.
The solution can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Do not use this product in the presence of blood in the stool or in case of obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract, nor in case of malfunctioning kidneys. The porduct contains glucose and diabetics should take note of this.
