The borage plant (Borago officinalis), or also called borage or cucumber herb, is a well-known kitchen herb with blue flowers, native to the countries around the Mediterranean Sea and spread throughout Europe and North America over the centuries.

Rich in GLA
Borage oil is the richest natural source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA). This is a polyunsaturated omega 6 fatty acid that is rarely found in the diet. In principle, the body can synthesize GLA itself from (cis) linoleic acid. However, in situations where there is an increased need it may make sense to supplement the diet with a GLA supplement. Factors that can play a role here are excessive consumption of trans fatty acids, saturated fats, sugar, alcohol and carbohydrates.
